A Note About Our Name

What happened to
Elfrida Baptist Church?

Thanks for asking. The simple answer is we changed our name to Elfrida Bible Church.

Why would we do this?

There are two major reasons.

1.
We wanted our central focus on God's Word to be reflected in our name.
2.
It is a clearer reflection of how our church operates.

Bible churches typically…

Verse-by-Verse Teaching

Teach through books of the Bible verse-by-verse (expository teaching is the fancy name for this).

Led by Elders

Have multiple elders who lead the church.

Scripture as Sole Authority

Look to Scripture as their sole source of truth.

Elfrida Bible was already doing these things before the name change. Since our founding over 100 years ago we have been focused on the sufficiency of God's Word. In more recent years we moved to being led by elders, and along the way have taught through many books in the Bible verse-by-verse.

While the name change was not required, we felt the clarity it gave to people (like you) who might want to come visit our church was worth it.
